Description * * * * * MUST HAVE STAR WARS! Up for sale is an original STAR WARS 1976 GLORY BOOK George Lucas OWNED & SIGNED!! This is about as important and rare as a movie prop and like gets. George Lucas assembled this booklet of on-set production stills and gave it to John Jay (Star Wars on-set still photographer) back in July of 1976 shortly after filming was completed. Last year in 2007, a fantastic book was published accounting the entire history of the making of Star Wars. It is titled: THE MAKING OF STAR WARS - The Definitive Story Behind The Original Film, Based On The Lost Interviews From The Official Lucasfilm Archives. The book was written by New York Times best-selling author J. W.  Rinzler. At the beginning of chapter 10, on page 218 Rinzler writes: "A shattered Lucas made a couple of stops before returning to California: Mobile, Alabama, to visit Spielberg on his set; and New York City to say hello to Brian De Palma. Lucas had assembled booklets of black-and-white production stills, on-set photography of Star Wars, which he gave to his friends, including film critic Jay Crocks." This is one of those books. What makes this particular book so wonderful is that it was originally given to John Jay, the on-set still photographer who actually took the pictures contained within the book. The book is also HAND signed by George Lucas and Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz. The Lucas signature is AMAZING! It is near impossible to find a legible signature on Lucas. This one is as nice as I have seen - VERY clear and easy to read. George really took his time with this one. This is an amazing item to own. It is arguably the best of all the Glory Books Lucas gave out because it was also the artist John Jay's book who's work comprises the entire content's. Quite an amazing item.
